The mystery perfume.
Her name was Mitsouko. Its name means "Mystery", a mystery of tenderness and sweetness. Masterpiece of balance, mysterious fragrance of spices and wood, with subtly fruity accents. Its tone is warm and sensual, imposes itself gently and begins like a long story... At the sight of the Mitsouko bottle, one remains more than ever struck by the modernity of its shape and the sharpness of its lines. Initially designed for the Heure Bleue by Georges Chevalier and Baccarat, this bottle of great purity takes up the characteristic swirls of Art Nouveau. The graceful arabesques of the bottle accurately illustrate the orientalist tone of this beautiful story. Its avant-garde cork, in the shape of a hollow heart, evokes romanticism and was a real technical feat.
In 1919, Europe experienced a tremendous craze for Japan and Far Eastern culture.
That was when that Jacques Guerlain baptizes his new fragrance Mitsouko.
Mitsouko means "mystery" in Japanese and symbolizes a new passionate and mysterious femininity.
With Mitsouko, this is the first time that the peach note has been used in Perfumery.
Illustrating the innovative side of its creators, Mitsouko is the first chypre-fruity fragrance in Perfumery, after other chypre fragrances initiated by Guerlain.
