Conceived in 1936, French Cancan pays homage to the frenzied dance that made French cabarets famous across the Atlantic, at a time when cabaret divas stole the show from beautiful elegant ladies from the Champs Elysées, attracting the Chat Noir de Montmartre or the Moulin Rouge, lower classes and upper middle classes, to the grand dame of their wives.
In the mid-1930s, when classic musicals were booming on Broadway in New York, Ernest Daltroff imagined a new flavor for the United States. On a sandalwood background, French Cancan translates, in a bouquet of flowers composed of jasmine and orange blossom, the wild dance that has made French cabarets famous across the Atlantic. Symbol of an era when the cabaret divas of the Moulin Rouge stole the show from the elegant beauties of the Champs Elysées, French Cancan is evocative of a certain liberation of morals that echoes the end of prohibition in the United States. p>
Olfactory notes: Jasmine, violet, May rose, orange blossom, ambergris , sandalwood.
