Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint-Laurent is one of the greatest leaders in perfumery, known for his olfactory wonders such as Y or Opium, but also for ready-to-wear luxury both in France and abroad.

The brand was created in 1961 after the union between Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé as a fashion house. But the designer's notoriety only really took off in 1965 with the Mondrian collection, which surprised many with its strict style and simple color scheme. In 1966, he decided to reinterpret the classics with a new style of feminine clothing with androgynous cuts. Yves Saint-Laurent's creations appear in several films, worn by the biggest stars of the time, namely Claudia Cardinale, Sofia Loren and Catherine Deneuve.

It was in 1964 that Yves Saint-Laurent created his first cheap perfume Y, quickly followed by other bestsellers, such as Opium whose reviews are quite controversial. It was banned in some countries because its name would "encourage" the consumption of illicit products. Then followed Poison which is hugely successful, so much so that some fussy restaurateurs prohibit access to people wearing it because they can no longer bear to constantly smell the same perfume.

Yves Saint-Laurent's inspiration comes from his fascination with the famous city of light Paris, whose name can be found on some of his products (Parisienne, Mon Paris, etc.). The Yves Saint-Laurent brand has become the image of French elegance.
